Abstract: an orderly chaos

Art was considered a way to represent the world as it seems, until that idea was challenged and art took a different approach on the perspectives of life. A new form of art was discovered that broke the barriers of creativity, called abstraction. Jackson Pollock, among many other artists decided to embrace abstract art and develop the concept as they seemed fit. With abstract art, an image had no certain meaning and was designed to focus more on the less tangible things. However, is there a right or wrong way to do abstract art?

Abstract art opened new doors for artists in which they could simplify, flatten, change the colors, fragment and even put space and time together. It has no limit, abstraction is a form of realism that portrays emotions, ideas, consciousness, sounds and reality that manifest as visual auras, known as thought forms. This has impacted architecture by mixing function and form to create a geometric style that serves as a universal language for objects and concepts in our everyday life. Many people try this from of art, and among them there is one that stands out, known as Jackson Pollock.

Jackson Pollock took inspiration from native American art, from methodology, automatism and other concepts to develop his canvas. In 1942 he got his big break and his works were described archaic and volcanic. This was because he would brush, pour, drip, and scatter paint through his canvas and even incorporate string, nail and sand into his composition. Nonetheless, despite the positive critics he received, not everyone approves of these methods even today and are compared to demeaning things. Whether his art is hated by some, and loved by others, he still remains a figure of the Post American Boom due to the abstract expressionism he demonstrated.

There are many ways to create abstract art, and many take inspiration from other pieces of art to give depth to their works of art, but there is no particular way that can be determined as the right way to do it. It all depends on the artist and what he wants to express. The meaning of the finished product is also left to the interpretation of the viewer, hence the big dispute over the whether an abstract painting is actually considered art of just a bunch of lines or figures randomly placed on a canvas. Even though it is relatively a new concept, it has been seen throughout humanity, the difference is that now it has been accepted and viewed as art that will carry on as part of our lives throughout the future.
